Nur Terzi is a Turkish-Australian artist specialising in the traditional arts of Ebru marbling, Tezhip illumination, and Islamic art. Through workshops, exhibitions, and cultural programs, she creates contemplative spaces where heritage, creativity, and mindfulness meet.

The traditional art of painting upon water, Ebru is created by floating natural pigments on a thickened water surface before transferring the design onto paper. Each marbling is completely unique, reflecting movement, spontaneity, and the beauty of surrender. Rooted in Ottoman artistic tradition, Ebru is both a visual art and a meditative experience.

Tezhip, meaning “illumination” or “gilding,” is the delicate art of decorating manuscripts and calligraphy with intricate floral motifs, geometry, and gold detailing. Practiced for centuries in the Ottoman world, Tezhip reflects harmony, patience, and sacred beauty, transforming the page into a space of contemplation and refinement.

Çini is the traditional art of Turkish ceramic and tile decoration, known for its flowing floral patterns, cobalt blues, turquoise tones, and intricate hand-painted designs. Inspired by nature and Ottoman architecture, Çini has adorned mosques, palaces, and homes for centuries, carrying a timeless elegance that connects craftsmanship, history, and beauty.
Nur offers immersive workshops, artist talks, and cultural experiences across Melbourne for schools, libraries, galleries, festivals, workplaces, and community groups.
Ebru teaches patience, surrender, and presence. The artist may guide the colours, yet the water always carries its own wisdom. Through traditional arts, Nur invites others into slower, more contemplative creative experiences rooted in heritage, mindfulness, and beauty.
